A music track is one of the cheaper operations in the studio and one of the most transformative. A few rules keep it from becoming wallpaper.
Describe the function, not the genre
"Tension building under a conversation, resolving on the cut" gives a better track than "cinematic orchestral". Say what the music must do for the scene.
Match the length
Generate to the assembled length, not to a guess. The assembly step knows your total duration; use it. A track that ends early is worse than no track.
Leave silence
Not every scene wants music. Dialogue scenes often play better dry, with music entering on the last line. Decide where the music stops before deciding where it starts.
One theme, varied
For films over two minutes, generate one theme and two variations rather than three unrelated tracks. Repetition with change is what makes a score feel composed.
