Typemation is the Yeşilçam Animation style for kinetic typography: words enter, bounce and change color in time with a narration, and the text itself is the content. There are no characters and no dialogue, which makes it fast, economical and ideal for social media ads in 9:16 and 1:1. This post covers how it works, why type-only ads perform the job so well, and how people are using it.
Why kinetic type works for social ads
Most people scroll social feeds with the sound off, at least at first. An ad that depends on a voice to make sense has already lost them. Kinetic typography solves that by putting the message on screen, word by word, as it is spoken. With sound off, the viewer reads it. With sound on, the words land on the voice. In both cases the message is the thing moving, not a decorative background that the eye skips over.
It is also honest. A product ad made of three well-timed sentences does not pretend to be anything else. For many brands, especially small ones, that plainness is more persuasive than a generic stock scene.
And it is fast to iterate. Ads are rarely right the first time: the hook that sounds clever in a meeting often falls flat in a feed. With kinetic type, changing the hook means changing a sentence, not reshooting a scene. That makes it practical to try two or three openings, keep the one that holds attention, and put your budget behind it.
How Typemation times text to voice
You write the message; the studio narrates it and animates each word to the narration. Words arrive on the beat, key words get weight and color, and transitions follow the rhythm of the sentence. Because the text is the content, Typemation has no characters and no dialogue; the Speech and Characters sections do not apply. What you control is the message, the voice, the music and the look.
Like Papercraft, Dioramation and Fluxmation, Typemation generates no images. The type is animated in code, the preview plays instantly in your browser, and the cost is a fraction of an image or video style. That is what makes it realistic to produce several variants of the same ad and test them.
Formats for every feed
- 9:16 for stories, reels and short-form vertical video. Type fills the tall frame well, and large words read at arm’s length.
- 1:1 for feed posts, where a square takes the most space on both phone and desktop.
- 16:9 for video platforms, presentations and screens.
Output is MP4, WebP or GIF. For ads, MP4 is the usual choice. WebP and GIF are useful for websites, landing pages and email, where a short autoplaying loop is exactly what you want.
Five ways to use Typemation
- Three-sentence product ad. The studio’s own sample prompt: a rhythmic ad that introduces your product in three sentences. Problem, promise, call to action.
- Offer announcement. A sale, an opening date, a new menu. Short, punchy, with the date or price as the word that changes color.
- Quote or testimonial card. One line a real customer said, with their permission, timed to a calm voice.
- Event countdown. Speakers, date, place, one reason to come, in fifteen seconds.
- Explainer opener. The question your video answers, set in motion before the rest of the content starts.
Writing text that moves well
Kinetic type rewards a particular kind of writing. Short sentences. One idea each. Concrete words rather than abstract ones, because a concrete word has a shape the viewer can grasp in a fraction of a second. Put the most important word at the end of the sentence, where the voice naturally lands and where the animation gives it emphasis. Read your text aloud before you create: if you stumble, the viewer will too.
Length matters. You choose a target length from 10 to 120 seconds, but for ads, 15 to 30 seconds is usually plenty. A useful rule of thumb is that the text should be noticeably shorter than you think; each word needs time on screen to be read. If you are stuck, Write a story with Sam or Improve with Sam will draft or tighten the text for a small token cost.

- Pick 9:16 or 1:1 and a length.
- Check the Estimated cost, press Create, review the preview and press Get video.
On the free plan, videos carry a small Yeşilçam Studios watermark; subscribers get clean files, which matters for paid ads. The plan differences are in Free, Basic and Pro explained.
