Choose Maket if you have a DXF from a CAD tool and want a walkable 3D model and a GLB file straight away at no cost. Choose Planner 5D if your plan is a PDF, image or DWG, or if the real goal is to furnish, decorate and render the space: it reads 18 formats and has a large catalogue, but its AI plan recognition needs a paid plan and can take up to 24 hours, and it does not document any 3D model export.

How each works

Maket

Maket is part of Yeşilçam Studios and runs entirely in the browser. You create a project (a folder for one building), then add a plan for each floor by pressing Add plan or dropping a DXF, SVG, GeoJSON or JSON plan onto the scene; ready-made 3D models such as GLB, OBJ or FBX open the same way, without wall detection. Units are read from the DXF header; if they are missing, Maket guesses from the drawing size and tells you what it guessed.

A DXF has no wall entity, only lines grouped into layers, so Maket gives each layer a role: wall, door, window, room, text, decor or ignore. Common names such as A-WALL, A-DOOR, A-GLAZ and A-AREA are recognised automatically. Parallel double lines become thick walls, arcs become doors attached to the nearest wall and cut into it, window geometry is cut in as openings, and closed polygons become rooms with names and areas. If a role is wrong, you change it in the Layers panel and the scene rebuilds instantly. A floor height slider sets the wall height, which a drawing does not contain.

A five-phase build animation plays when the plan loads, then you orbit the model or switch to Walk for a first-person tour with the keyboard. Export gives you a GLB for any 3D tool, and Save keeps the plan's layer settings and thumbnail. The yesilcam CLI and MCP server can create projects and save plans from the terminal.

Planner 5D

Planner 5D is a home and interior design app for consumers and professionals, available in the browser, on mobile and on desktop. You can draw a plan yourself, or upload one in any of 18 formats, including JPG, PNG, BMP, PDF, DWG and DXF, for AI-powered recognition. According to its help centre, recognition takes from 10 minutes to 24 hours depending on the queue and requires a paid subscription; the pricing page lists it from Premium upward. Pages of a multi-page PDF can each be assigned to a floor level.

Once the plan is in, the work is design: furniture and materials from the catalogue (the free plan unlocks 50% of it), first-person navigation with WASD in the web editor, and on Professional a 360 Walkthrough of rendered camera points. Every plan, including Free, supports project sharing and shared editing.

Pricing in detail

Maket is free. The conversion runs locally in your browser and does not use tokens from your Yeşilçam Studios wallet, and saving projects and plans is included in your account. Converting one plan or a hundred costs the same: nothing.

Planner 5D has four tiers:

  • Free: unlimited projects and 50% of the catalogue. AI floor plan recognition is not included.
  • Premium: $19.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Paid monthly for twelve months, that is 12 × $19.99 = $239.88, so the annual plan saves $179.89, about 75%. Premium is the lowest tier that includes AI floor plan recognition.
  • Professional: $49.99 a month or $399.99 a year (12 × $49.99 = $599.88 if paid monthly, so annual saves $199.89). Professional adds the 360 Walkthrough and DWG/DXF export.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing.

In practice: if you only need to turn a DXF into something you can walk through, the Planner 5D route costs at least $59.99 a year plus the recognition wait. If you also want DWG or DXF export of your design, it is $399.99 a year.

Where Planner 5D is better

  • Input formats. Planner 5D accepts PDF, images and DWG as well as DXF. If all you have is a PDF from an estate agent or a photo of a paper plan, Planner 5D can work with it and Maket cannot.
  • Furnishing and decoration. It has a furniture and material catalogue and is built around designing an interior. Maket can put a furniture layer on the decor role, but it has no furniture or material catalogue.
  • Rendered presentation. The 360 Walkthrough of rendered camera points on Professional is aimed at showing a finished interior, which Maket does not do.
  • Platforms and sharing. Browser, mobile and desktop apps, and shared editing on every plan including Free.
  • Multi-page PDFs. One upload can become several floors.

Where Maket is better

  • Cost. Free, against a paid plan for Planner 5D's recognition.
  • Speed. Seconds in the browser, against 10 minutes to 24 hours in a queue.
  • 3D export. Maket exports the model as GLB for game engines, web viewers and other 3D tools. We found no 3D model export in Planner 5D; its export is DWG/DXF in 2D on Professional.
  • Control over the conversion. Maket shows which layer became which role and lets you correct it instantly. AI recognition is a result you accept or redraw.
  • Automation. The CLI and MCP server can analyse a DXF, create a project and save floors from a script.

Who should choose which

Pick Maket if you are an architect, student or developer with DXF exports, if you need a GLB for another 3D tool, or if you want to check a layout in first person before a meeting without paying or waiting. Keep your layers named and each floor as a separate DXF with the same origin, and the conversion is clean.

Pick Planner 5D if your plan exists only as a PDF, image or DWG, if the aim is to furnish and decorate, or if you want a consumer app on phone and desktop with shared editing. Budget at least the Premium plan if you want its AI to read your plan.

The two also work in sequence: convert the DXF in Maket to check proportions and circulation, then rebuild the interior in Planner 5D when it is time to choose furniture.

Can Planner 5D import a DXF floor plan? Yes. DXF is among its 18 upload formats, and AI recognition turns it into a plan on paid plans, taking 10 minutes to 24 hours.

Can Maket read a PDF or DWG plan? No. Maket reads plans as DXF (including binary), SVG, GeoJSON/IMDF and JSON, and opens 3D models such as GLB, OBJ, FBX and STL, but not PDF or DWG. Save the DWG as DXF from AutoCAD or a derivative such as BricsCAD, ZWCAD, DraftSight or GstarCAD; the conversion is free.

Does Planner 5D export a 3D model such as GLB or OBJ? We could not find a 3D model export on its official pages; OBJ, FBX, BLEND and STL appear as import formats for custom models. Its documented export is DWG/DXF on Professional.

Which one handles several floors? Both. Maket keeps each floor as a separate plan in one project with a floor index; Planner 5D can assign each page of a multi-page PDF to a floor.
