How the tools differ
The ten tools fall into four groups, and the group matters more than the feature list.
Automatic converters
Maket reads the layers of a DXF (ASCII or binary), an SVG, a GeoJSON/IMDF map or a JSON plan and assigns each one a role: wall, door, window, room, text, decor or ignore. Common names such as A-WALL, A-DOOR and A-GLAZ are recognised automatically, and the Layers panel lets you change a role and rebuild the scene instantly. Parallel double lines become thick walls, arcs become doors cut into the nearest wall, and closed polygons become rooms with names and areas. It runs in the browser, takes seconds, and exports GLB. Ready-made 3D models (GLB, OBJ, FBX, STL, DAE, 3MF, PLY, 3DS, USDZ, VRML) open directly, without wall detection. It does not read DWG, PDF, images, IFC, SKP or RVT.
Strukt AI takes PDF, DWG, PNG, JPG and hand sketches, builds a 3D model you can orbit or walk through in the browser, and exports GLB, DAE, BLEND and IFC. Its free tier covers 10 floor plans. Its paid prices are not published, and we found no independent reviews.
Home design apps with plan import
Planner 5D accepts 18 formats, including DWG, DXF and PDF, but its AI recognition needs a paid plan and takes between 10 minutes and 24 hours depending on the queue. Coohom recognises walls, doors, windows and furniture symbols from AutoCAD DWG/DXF straight away, with strict rules: model space, closed rooms, 2.5 m to 120 m plan size, and one floor per file. RoomSketcher converts JPG, PNG and PDF plans, including photos of paper plans, in under five seconds; DWG is not mentioned.
Enterprise conversion service
Archilogic converts JPG, PNG, PDF, DXF and DWG within two business days, with people checking the result, and exports GLTF, IFC, DXF, SVG, GeoJSON and IMDF. It is built as a record of spaces for workplace portfolios, with an API, webhooks and a Floor Plan SDK.
Modelling, scanning and rendering tools
SketchUp imports DWG/DXF as linework only; you extrude the walls. Cedreo uses your plan as an underlay that you trace, and the 3D appears as you draw. magicplan starts from a phone or LiDAR scan of an existing space rather than a drawing. Enscape needs a model in Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Archicad or Vectorworks, and Twinmotion accepts DXF but does no wall detection; both are for rendering and presenting a model that already exists.

- Maket: free. The conversion runs in your browser and does not use tokens.
- Strukt AI: free for 10 floor plans, with conversion and 3D export included; credits are only for AI renders. Paid plan prices are not published.
- Planner 5D: Premium is $19.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Paying monthly for a year costs 12 × $19.99 = $239.88, so the annual plan saves $179.89. Professional, which adds 360 Walkthrough and DWG/DXF export, is $49.99 a month or $399.99 a year (12 × $49.99 = $599.88 monthly).
- Coohom: Pro $29 a month (12 × $29 = $348 a year); Elite, which adds CAD, PDF and JPG drawing export, $69 a month ($828 a year).
- RoomSketcher: Pro $12 a month billed annually ($144) or $24 a month (12 × $24 = $288). Each AI conversion after the first free one costs 5 credits, and Pro includes 5 credits a month, so one conversion a month on Pro.
- Archilogic: $329 per conversion on Starter, so a four-floor building costs 4 × $329 = $1,316. Plus is $24.90 per floor plan a month in annual packages from 10 floor plans: 10 × $24.90 × 12 = $2,988 a year at the minimum.
- SketchUp: Go $129 a year, Pro $399 a year, Studio $859 a year.
- Cedreo: Pro $79 a month billed annually (12 × $79 = $948) or $129 monthly, according to third-party listings; the official page did not show prices.
- magicplan: pay per project with a minimum of 10 projects a month: 10 × $30 = $300 a month on PRO 12, or 10 × $40 = $400 on PRO Flex.
- Enscape: Solo €538.80 a year (€44.90 a month). Twinmotion: free under $1M annual revenue, $445 per seat a year above it.
Where other tools are better than Maket
Maket reads floor plans as DXF, SVG, GeoJSON/IMDF or JSON and opens ready-made 3D models such as GLB, OBJ, FBX and STL, but it does not read DWG, PDF, images, IFC, SKP or RVT. If your plan is a PDF, a scan, a photo or a DWG you cannot re-export, Strukt AI, RoomSketcher, Planner 5D, Coohom and Archilogic will accept it and Maket will not. Maket has no furniture catalogue, material library or photoreal renderer, so Planner 5D, Coohom, Cedreo, Enscape and Twinmotion produce far more finished-looking images and video. Archilogic and Strukt AI export IFC, which matters for BIM workflows; Maket exports GLB only. magicplan measures a building that has no drawing at all. And Maket keeps floors as separate plans in one project; it does not claim a stacked, walk-between-floors building view.
Where Maket is better
For a clean DXF, Maket is free, instant and runs in a browser tab. Planner 5D's recognition is paid and queued for up to 24 hours; Coohom accepts only AutoCAD files and one floor per file; RoomSketcher documents only JPG, PNG and PDF input, and HomeByMe only PNG, JPG and PDF as a background to trace. Among the mainstream home design tools in our research, none documents a GLB export of the building shell, which Maket provides. The layer-role editor means a wrong guess is fixed in one click rather than in CAD, and the yesilcam CLI and MCP server can create projects and save plans from a script.
