An automation makes videos while you are not watching, so it needs clear spending limits. Influencer automation has three: a required monthly token cap, a default that asks you before buying anything, and an optional auto top-up you switch on yourself. This guide explains each one. Setup is in the automation setup guide.

How does the monthly cap work?

Every automation has a monthly token cap (at least 100,000 tokens). It counts everything the automation spends in a calendar month in its time zone: research, storyboard, frames, shots and music. Refunded work does not count. Before each run the automation checks whether the run's estimate still fits; if not, it stops with the status "Monthly limit reached", sends you one email that month and continues on its own when the new month starts. You can raise the cap at any time.

When you set it up, the form shows the estimated cost per video and per month and suggests a cap. If your cap is below the estimate, it warns you that some videos may not be made before the end of the month.

What happens when my balance is not enough?

With auto top-up off (the default "Ask me"), the automation waits with the status "Waiting for tokens". You get an email and an in-app notice telling you how many tokens the next video needs. As soon as your balance is enough, for example after you buy a pack, it continues where it left off. Reminders are limited, at most one a day.

A long video that runs short in the middle of production pauses before the next chapter, exactly like a video in the Long video tab, and continues once tokens are available.

What is auto top-up?

Auto top-up buys the token pack you choose with your saved card when the balance is not enough, so a scheduled video is not left half done. It is off until you turn it on, and it is limited in several ways:

  • You choose the pack and the maximum number of automatic purchases per month (1 to 10, default 2).
  • You tick a consent box that states the pack, its price and the monthly maximum. The purchase is made with your saved card without 3D Secure.
  • The monthly cap still applies: a top-up is only made for work that fits within the cap.
  • Each purchase sends the usual purchase email and invoice.
  • You can turn it off at any time in the automation settings.

Who can use auto top-up?

It works with a card saved on the web and needs a previous successful payment on the web (the invoice details are taken from it). It is not available if you bought through the App Store or Google Play, because automatic charges are not allowed for store purchases; in that case the automation asks you when the balance runs short. Auto top-up can be turned on only on the web.

What if the payment fails?

The automation pauses with the status "Waiting for payment" and you get an email in your language that explains:

  • why a charge was attempted: which automation and which upcoming video,
  • what happened, in plain words (for example insufficient funds, an expired card or a limit), showing only the last four digits of the card,
  • your current balance, the tokens the next video needs and the pack price,
  • three ways to fix it: update your card, buy the pack yourself or adjust the automation.

After a successful payment the automation continues where it stopped. You get one email per failed attempt and at most one reminder a day.

Statuses at a glance

  • Active: running on schedule.
  • Paused: you paused it.
  • Monthly limit reached: resumes next month or when you raise the cap.
  • Waiting for tokens: resumes when your balance is enough.
  • Waiting for payment: resumes after the card is updated or a pack is bought.
  • Plan required: automations need Basic or Pro; resumes when your plan allows it.

Frequently asked

Can auto top-up spend more than my cap? No. The cap counts production tokens, and purchases are made only for work that fits within it.

Are automatically bought tokens different? No. They are a normal token pack with the same validity and refund rules as a pack you buy yourself; see token validity.

Can I try again right away after updating my card? Yes. Use "Try again now" on the automation page.
